About Our Instructors

Amy Taylor
Amy completed the 200 hr teacher training at Indianapolis' CITYOGA in July of 2008. In addition, she is trained to teach PiYo (yoga and Pilates fusion) and Zumba. Amy has found that a regular yoga practice helps "quiet the chatter of the mind." She loves teaching yoga to beginners, as well as those looking to take their practice to the next level. Her classes include breath work and meditation in addition to the Asanas (physical postures). Amy also likes to incorporate exercises which develop core strength. Amy is a married mom of 9-year-old twin sons. She and her family have lived in West Lafayette for 4 years. In addition to teaching yoga, she is a writer and moderator of a local website for moms.

Marcia Schaller
Marcia grew up in the coastal town of Stonington, Connecticut. She graduated from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern Languages and attended the Alliance Francaise in Paris for a year of post graduate studies. Seven years ago, she moved to West Lafayette with her husband, Steve. She recently completed the 200 hr Certification Teacher Training at the Kripalu School of Yoga in Lenox, Massachusetts and is working towards the 500 hr level program. “Yoga has been a great influence in my life and has evolved into something that I could not have imagined. Throughout the years, I have been practicing various styles of yoga; however, it wasn’t until I discovered Baron Baptiste Power Yoga that I felt as if I had arrived home. I have been regularly attending classes at the Cambridge and Brookline, Massachusetts studios as well as at an affiliate studio in Rhode Island. Over the years, I have grown to realize how important yoga is on so many levels: emotional, physical, and spiritual. I feel empowered by what yoga brings into my life on a daily basis and how it has the power for transformation. I hope to communicate that joy which I have experienced to my students and to awaken the knowledge that we are all strong, capable, and powerful individuals.”

Kristin Burkholder
Kristin grew up in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She began practicing yoga and Pilates upon moving to the Lafayette area in 2001 and has since become a certified instructor of PiYo (a blend of power yoga and Pilates) and mat Pilates. She especially loves to practice and teach Vinyasa-style yoga, which focuses on linking breath with dynamic movement to connect body and mind. Kristin's favorite pose is Halasana (Plow pose) because it releases back tension, promotes calmness and focus, and just feels good!

Trish Gilger
Trish graduated from University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology majoring in Genetics. After graduating she remained employed at the University of Kansas where she worked in a Biochemistry and Molecular Biosciences lab. In the lab she investigated protein's structure and function effects on skeletal and cardiac muscles, until she got married and moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she was introduced to Pilates exercise. After moving to West Lafayette with her family she saw a need for quality instructors in the Pilates fitness field and received her full mat instructor/teacher training certificate through Pilates Unlimited, LLC (Pilates! More than Exercise) in Dallas, TX. Pilates Unlimited program director, Karen Sanzo, M.S., P.T, believes "that exercise should fit the person as opposed to making the person mold to the exercise." Trish prides herself on attention to detail and precision so that her clients and students can get an effective, efficient, competent, while safe and fun Pilate’s workout. Pilates is a total body workout with an emphasis on core muscle development and postural alignment. It develops optimal core control, improves posture, builds strength without excess bulk, increases flexibility and agility, and enhances the mind-body connection. Learning and understanding pilates fundamentals enhances both athletes and individuals wishing to improve their conditioning and appearances. Trish's mat classes are based on concepts developed by Joseph Pilates to improve one's everyday quality of life.
